The Big Rip team is excited to finally announce the 2023 Big Rip Classic AM player's pack & this year's projected added cash. Each year, Tournament Director Michel Munn makes it a priority to expand and improve the event and player experience. A big part of this improvement comes from the feedback by the players and staff at the conclusion of the prior year's event.
The pro purse has consistently increased each year —from the modest beginnings of $1800 in 2016, to over $17,000 in 2022. In 2022, the Big Rip Classic had the largest pro purse in all of Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana for events not designated as PDGA Majors or Disc Golf Pro Tour. This year the projected added cash is expected to be a Big Rip Classic record of at least $7000 with a total pro purse pushing past $20,000. This projected added cash and total pro purse figures are based on a full-capped field in the pro divisions.
Discraft and Ledgestone have been partnered brands with the Big Rip Classic for many years and have once again helped shape the AM Player’s Pack for the 2023 event. This continued partnership allows for not only a truly exceptional Player’s Pack for each AM participant, but also a full payout expected to exceed $10,000.
One of the marquis items included in this year's Player’s Pack will be a collaboration with Ledgestone on a custom, double-canopy, red and white Golf Umbrella that features both the Big Rip Classic and Ledgestone logos. As part of this collaboration, each AM player will also receive a special edition Jawbreaker Swirl Raptor with the 2023 Ledgestone stamp. Additionally, in partnership with Discraft, a special run of 2 custom-stamped discs will be produced (molds to be determined). With artwork designed by Paul Johnson, each mold will feature one of the two parks where the event is hosted. Discraft will also produce the 2023 Michael Barnard Supercolor Buzzz Mini that highlights Eagles Landing DGC.
